Themed “Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development,” the Hue Festival 2008 will include hundreds of cultural and tourism programs, honoring unique traditional values of Vietnamese people in general and in Hue Ancient Town in particular.

Hue Festival 2008 will continue to inherit and develop the achievements of Hue festivals of 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006, improving its artistic quality and professional characteristics to highlight its position as a national center of culture and tourism, and the city festival of Vietnam.

This will be an international cultural and tourist festival, and a forum or art exchanges of regional and state level. Hue Festival 2008 is imbued with Vietnamese and Hue cultural identity, while expanding international exchange, socio-economic development, and the promotion of Vietnamese tourism development.

The festival will officially open on June 3, 2008 at Ngo Mon Square and concluded on June 11, 2008 on the Huong River. This has been selected as one of nine hallmark events of Vietnam’s tourism in 2008 by the Ministry of Culture, Sport, and Tourism. A lot of diversified and exciting festivities will take place in the month before the opening ceremony to welcome the Hue Festival 2008.

As scheduled, this year’s Hue Festival will feature art performances from various Vietnamese cultural regions, especially Hue Royal Arts, as well as cultural arts of countries worldwide, such as France, the main partner, Australia, Belgium, Cambodia, Canada, China, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Romania, Switzerland, Thailand, the UK, and the US.

More than 20 art troupes from 20 countries are registered for the festival. The Hue Festival 2008 promises to be an impressive and attractive festival, affirming its reputation as a cultural, tourism, and festivity center of Vietnam.
